10-year-old kills friend with father’s pistol

A ten-year-old boy has reportedly killed his 12-year-old friend with his grandfather’s pistol while playing a spiritual bulletproof role in a movie they watched in Otuan Community of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

According eyewitness account, the boys were acting scenes from the movie when the deceased claimed that he has spiritual bulletproof and challenged the 10-year-old who quickly ran into his grandfather’s room, picked up a pistol and fired the shot that killed his friend.

Reports say the owner of the pistol, who is an ex-service man was not at home at the time the incident took place.

It was also learnt that after firing the shot that killed his friend, the 10-year-old quickly dropped the gun and fled the scene.

A community member said people are searching for the boy who is on the run.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Bayelsa Police Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat said the incident has not been reported officially but stated that investigations had been launched into the matter. (RN)
