Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has called caution among politicians as the country is preparing for the 2023 general elections.

Abdulrazaq made this call on Thursday at the 28th convocation ceremony of the Kwara State Polytechnic held at the institution’s campus.

The governor who was represented at the occasion by his deputy, Kayode Alabi, said campaigns and election proper should hold without conducts and uterances that could affect security of the country and bring the nation down.

“Nigeria must not fall. As we are now in era of politics let us avoid anything that could worsen security of the country. Let us play the game by the rule of the game,” he stated.

Abdulrazaq said he expected, from the polytechnic, sustenance of zero tolerance for cultism and social vices, peace and unity among the entire polytechnic community, prompt accreditation and re-accreditation of courses, and determination to improve the standard of education in the state.

He said this would not only bring back the lost glory of the institution but further improve its ranking among other tertiary institutions in the country.

The governor also urged the graduating students to make use of the training and skills they had acquired in the school to be self-employed and contribute their quotas to the development of the country.

He stated: “With the present economic situation in our country, what you need is to face life head-long, confront it with courage drawing from the practical training and entrepreneurship skills you have acquired while in the Polytechnic, to establish yourselves as self-employed graduates and job providers.

“You should always project the good name of the polytechnic positively wherever you find yourself. Since we have no other country, all hands must be on the deck to keep contributing our quotas to the progress and development of our dear state in particular and Nigeria in general.

“I urge you to make use of the enormous skills you have acquired to impact positively on the remote and immediate environment. Subsequently, you will stand out among your peers.”

The chairman governor council of the polytechnic, Hon. Ahmed Yinusa and the rector of the institution, Engr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed both of whom also spoke at the occasion charged the 7,781 graduating students to make themselves self-reliant through the training and skills they acquired in the school and also make themselves good ambassador of the institution.

The following projects were commissioned: Kwara Poly Diagnostic Centre, Kwara Polytechnic Micro Finance Bank, Institute of Technology Building and Ruminant Animal Farm.

The Polytechnic also conferred honorary fellowship awards on four eminent personalities: Alhaji (Dr.) (Chief) AbdulRaheem Amoo Oladimeji, Founder of Al-Hikmah University, Alhaji Akeem Akinade Adejumo, MD/CEO of Fortunate Bakery, Chief Dr Innocent Chukwuma, Founder and Group Chairman of IVM Innoson Group and Mr Emmanuel Abidoye, MD/CEO of FEMTECH Information Technology.
