The campaign team for the re-election of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Thursday said the governor, had recorded concrete achievements that put Kwara on the developmental path.

Addressing Journalists at the media parley held at the party secretariat, G.R.A, Ilorin, the campaign council spokesperson, Florence Oyeyemi said “we are here to celebrate our achievements and to tell you that we are even better prepared to deliver when given a second mandate riding on the back of our successes and achievements

“Unlike the opposition Party, who will remain the opposition by next year, your feedback so far has been balanced and objective, free of guile and bile and for the collectively beneficial and progressive purpose of democracy.

“They have told lies and postured in such a manner as to hoodwink the public into believing that the entire Kwara is tired of our amiably quiet and effective governor. To that end, they have concocted, among other paraphernalia in their cauldron of manipulation and untruths, the odious slogan called “osuwon”. What they are tired of, however, is having their sticky, stubby fingers out of the state’s coffers and collective patrimony.

“What they are tired of is gaping on the side-line, drooling, as good governance is entrenched in the noble state of Kwara, a feat that they could not manage in all their years in government. They are weary because you, the media, men of good conscience and with no guilt, have heralded the cry of the people which is “MA A SE LO”. The people now get their salaries on time and they can see their revenue being committed to the task of developing the state through tangible investment in infrastructural projects that will build a sustainable and working system for all Kwara.

“Naturally, the PDP is tired, but we cannot sympathise with them and everything unholy, tyrannical and retrogressive they represent.

“We also know you remember that they have adopted a policy of disturbing the peace and bawling when they do not get their way in governance. They have been reported to the police for inciting the public against the government by perpetually laying on a false allegation of fraud, the monumental kind of fraud in which expertise is their speciality in reserve. Let the media kindly school them by informing them on the differences between criticising the government and inciting the public against the government, for they have simply been unteachable as far as we have tried”

Responding to a question on how the exodus of Young Progressive Party (YPP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidates would affect the chance of AbdulRazaq’s re-election bid, the campaign DG, Ambassador Yahya Seriki, said it will not hurt the chances of the governor in the 2023 general elections.

“Their departure from the party would not affect our chances. They also know they are going nowhere. They are probably looking for ways to see us come and meet with them, which we have already started and by the special grace of God, the governorship candidates of the YPP, SDP, even PDP, will soon be part of APC”

Corroborating the point, the state chairman of the party, Chief Sunday Fagbemi, said that there is a difference in governance and partisan politics, added that the minister for Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, is still a bonafide member of the APC.

“The minister is our leader and he’s still part of us. He has never said that he’s no longer part of us. He will participate in the 2023 general elections with us. The closer you look, the lesser you know as it concerns APC in Kwara. Never mind, by the time elections comes you will see that we’re going to win by bigger margin than what happened in 2019. There’s no cause for alarm”, he said.
