2023 Census: NPC commences master trainers workshop in Kwara

As part of the preparation for the 2023 Population and Housing Census, the National Population Commission (NPC) on Tuesday flagged off master trainers workshop in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.

Declaring the workshop open the Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission (NPC) Abdulrazaq Gidado, said the training is to enable the participants understand the concepts, methodology, technology and processes of the 2023 population and housing census.

Nothing less than two hundred and eighty-five (285) participants drawn from Kwara, Kogi and Niger states would be going through special training for ten (10) days at the Federal Training Centre, Kulende, Ilorin.

“With the commission now at the advance and critical stage of its preparation for 2023 population and housing census, training of functionaries was crucial because all field officers for the exercise must be given both technical and administrative training required to carry out their assigned roles before, during and after the census.

“This would enable them to understand the concepts, methodology, technology and processes.

The Federal Commissioner however urged the functionaries to be serious and attentive to facilitators, said the commission cannot afford to fail the country in terms of credible and acceptable census come 2023.

“I am confident with the level of our preparation that we will achieve a reliable, acceptable and credible census.”

He, however warned that the commission would not hesitate to show the way out to any functionaries found incapable.
