The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Imam Bashir Mohammed on Sunday led other ulamas from Ilorin Emirate in a special prayer for Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency in the 2023 general election.
The special prayer, held at the ancestral home of the candidate at Ajia Ogbonde compound in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State to commemorate his birthday.
The prayer was organised by the family members and well-wishers of the politician.
Speaking on the motives for the special prayer, Malam Mohammed Toyin, Who was one of the organisers said “Ajia is humanist per excellence, very humble and generous.
“Although, we use to organise prayer for him at every of his birthday but this year is special because of his political ambition and we all can see how much the man is loved ranging from the calibre of clerics, traditional leaders, personalities and all well-wishers that graced today’s event.
“Ajia is a kind of people we need in public office, going by his antecedent in developmental projects and support for the vulnerable. I believe that the good people of Ilorin West and Asa, would look all these uncommon qualities and vote for him to represent them in the Green Chamber, Abuja come 2023 general election”
Speaking the celebrant, appreciated all the attendees for the show of love and most especially thanked the Emir of Ilorin, Chief Imam of Ilorin, Imam Imale and the former senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki.
In his words “We all know it’s a tradition in my family house to organise special prayer for me on my birthday, but today I feel special because, every Malam, every sheikh and traditional leaders in Ilorin West and Asa joyfully gathered here today, it is a sign of acceptance, loved and for this, I am extremely happy and thanked everyone who graced this event.
“I specially thank the Emir of Ilorin who sent all the Imams led by the chief imam of Ilorin, Imam Imale, Imam Gambari, all the chiefs and Sheiks. It is a special day for us in Ajia Ogbonde, this meant a lot to us. The massive turnout across the political parties is proof that our party is well loved, and we are assuring Kwarans that we are prepared and ready to give the best representation they deserved.
“Moving forward to the 2023 general election, I urged all Nigerians to think deep and see where we were coming from and where we are today. Life is now meaningless under the APC government. We need to decide on the right thing to do. We all knew what Nigeria was when PDP was ruling. We all knew the rate of the dollars before they took over the power, how much was a bag of rice then, how much was garri and other foodstuffs, today what is the cost of rice and another foodstuff, and what is the level of insecurity, can we travel by road with rest of mind? The answer is No,
“We have all seen where we found ourselves. I want to urge everybody that it’s not just by feeling the pain, we must all be ready to send out these bad leaders that brought us into this mess. We must send them out in totality. Don’t allow them to hide under disguise of sharing money, APC is APC from beginning to the end there is nothing good about them everything they can offer is what we are getting now.
“I want to urge Kwarans and Nigerians again, to think about those that go to the bed on daily basis without food, those who are sick and can not get good medical care, think about these and support our party, PDP, we have done it before and we will do it again. I urge Nigerians to support us from the presidency up to the Assembly level and by the grace of God we will not let you down, the best is about to come, we can unite this country, bring back the economy, bring back security, provide jobs, and sustainable empowerment to our women”
Ajia, also commissioned a billboard, donated to support his ambition by group of market women in Oja-Oba market.
Speaking on behalf of the donor, Iya-Loja of the Kodi section of Oja-Oba market, Hajia Selimata Mustapha said “the billboard is a part of our contribution to Ibrahim Ajia’s ambition, he has been good to us ever before now, and this is the time we can pay him back by supporting him to realise his political ambition”
Ajia, appreciated the market women and urged them not to relent in their support for PDP as a party and assured them of continual support as well.
