2023: Gobir Receives Chief Imam’s Blessing, Charges Party’s Members on Mobilization

Kwara state Governorship Candidate of the Young Progressive Congress (YPP), Alhaji Yakubu Gobir, on Saturday received a spiritual blessing for his governorship aspiration from the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Bashir Mohammed.

Gobir, who is the Madawaki of Ilorin Emirate, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Imam of Ilorin, before attending a special prayer organised for him by YPP members and his political followers at Sanni Okin Mosque in Ilorin West Local Government area of the state.

The governorship candidate who has been visiting party loyalists in the state on thank you visit, was also hosted by party members who turned out in large numbers at Adeta area in the state capital.

Addressing the party members, Gobir thanked them for their steadfastness and urged them to embark on serious mobilization for the party ahead of the general election.

“The 2023 election will be different from 2019. Then, we voted for underserved people but this time around, electorates will determine who to vote for based on personality, antecedent and candidate’s agenda for the development of the state.

“I am encouraged by your turnout today, but you still have to embark on aggressive mobilization to ensure victory for the party come 2023 election.

“I want to also urge you to stand by our Senate, House of Representatives and Assembly candidates because we must have the majority of lawmakers.

“You must also be ready to protect your votes across all the 2,887 polling units in the state,” he said.

Earlier, while welcoming the governorship hopeful, state party executive, Alhaji Yusuf Olugbon, who is an Ilorin West LG chairman of the party, expressed gratitude to Gobir for his philanthropic gesture to the people of Ilorin West regardless of political affiliation.

“We can never forget how you reached out to the victims of the last rainstorm in Ilorin West. Your support for our people during the COVID-19 lockdown, healthcare intervention program and various empowerment schemes by your foundation”

The party chairman announced donations made by the governorship candidate in form of cash and materials across the 12 wards of the Local Government.
