7 roast to death on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Seven persons were reported burnt to death in a fatal crash along OPIC junction on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Sunday April 23, 2023.

The FRSC Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe, in a press statement stated that about 22 persons were involved in the crash.

She added that while 14 person sustained various degree of injuries, seven others were burnt to death after fire gutted the Mazda bus with registration number BDG993YG conveying them.

Okpe noted that the cause of the crash was suspected excessive speed, brake failure which led to lose of control and the vehicle went on flames.

The injured victims were taken to Lagos state Accident Emergency center Ojota, while the corpses were deposited at Olabisi Onabajo University Teaching Hospital morgue Sagamu.

The Sector Commander FRSC Ogun Sector Command, Ahmed Umar, commiserated with the family of the victims, while advising motorists to shun overspeeding and always have a routine vehicle check for good maintenance and replacement of any defect.
