Oyo State government has declared zero tolerance to activities of land grabbers or any act of forceful entry, illegal occupation as well as fraudulent conduct in relation to real properties in the state with 15 years jail term for land grabbers.
The state acting governor, Chief Bayo Lawal made the declaration while inaugurating a special task force unit of the real property protection law, 2016.
He explained that the activities of land grabbers encroaching on land space in the state have become worrisome as the state government would no longer condone their disturbance of public peace.
The acting Governor stressed that saddling a taskforce with such responsibility only underscored the Seyi Makinde’s administration’s concern for economic growth and maintaining law and order, adding that land grabbers would risk 15 years jail term henceforth.
Speaking on behalf of the taskforce, the chairman of the team, Justice Olajumoke Aiki (Rtd) assured the state government that they would discharge their duties in line with their objective of protecting the rights of property owners and prohibiting forceful entry or takeover of properties in the state.
The task force comprising seventeen members has membership from across various ministries of the state and security operatives.
