Pregnant Woman, Minor, Crushed To Death In Ogun Accident

Two persons have been reportedly killed while four others sustained injuries in an accident involving a yellow cement DAF truck in Adewusi Village, via Kila, along Abeokuta/Ibadan highway.

The spokesperson, Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corpe, TRACE, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi told journalists in Abeokuta that the accident, involving a DAF truck with registration number BDJ 112XF occurred on Saturday.

He alleged that the driver of the DAF truck conveying a full load of cement, coming from Ewekoro, onward to Ibadan, was at an excessive speed, lost control and rammed into a building.

The TRACE spokesperson disclosed that three male adults and one minor were injured in the accident while one pregnant woman and one male minor died.

He noted that the injured victims have been taken to Odeda General Hospital for medical attention while the presumed dead had been deposited at the hospital’s morgue. 

Mr Akinbiyi said a team of police officers were deployed to the scene of the incident to prevent youths who were angered by the accident from causing chaos.

While commiserating with the family of the deceased, Mr Akinbiyi implored drivers of articulated vehicles to avoid overspeeding and ensure up-to-date maintenance of their vehicles to prevent avoidable road crashes.(FRCN)
