Rector list achievements, Says govt yet to fulfill promise on subvention

In marking 365 days in office as the Rector of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Engr. (Dr) Abdul Jimoh Mohammed has said that his administration has recorded tremendous landmark achievements that worth celebrating.
The Rector of the oldest higher institutions in the state made this know while addressing Journalists at the permanent site of the campus in Ilorin on Thursday.
The Rector, who said “I assumed into the office at a time that the Polytechnic was preparing to host major national event, Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA) and as well about to hold 2019 Convocation ceremony in which those two events were given optimum attention that resulted to the success of both”
According to the Rector “in attending to the needs of the students in the lecture rooms, we bought new chairs and tables from little savings we realized from NIPOGA budget up to 255 pieces and this had help in solving issue of inadequacy of those materials”
The Rector, who listed some of his achievements as renovation of staff quarters that said to be leaking due to old age and longtime neglect. Renovation of some offices, laboratories and toilets.
He, added that his administration also restored water in the school campus and ensured the installation of Solar Panel light in some strategic locations in the school that used to be dark at night, provision of Internet connectivity and construction of horticultural garden.
He, however said as part of improving Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the school, his administration is embarking on some projects such as; Microfinance Bank, Bottle Water, Bakery and Block industry.
“Proposed Polytechnic Bakery project and reactivation of the Block making project have gone 85% to their completion”
While responding to question on monthly subvention to the school by the government, the Rector said “we are still engaging government on that but, they are yet to fulfill promise on restoration of the monthly subvention to the Polytechnic that was stopped by the immediate past administration in 2015” he said.
