Borno housewife poisons Chief Imam, says she hates marriage

Nigeria Police Command, Borno State Command has confirmed the arrest of a housewife, Fatima Abubakar, 25, for allegedly killing her husband, Goni Abbah, with poison.

The suspect was arrested at Anguwan Doki, according to the state commissioner of police, Abdu Umar, who made this information public in Maiduguri, the state’s capital.

Umar said the victim was the Chief Imam of the area, said “he had just returned from a mosque when the suspect, who was his second wife, allegedly poisoned his food.

The state police boss stated that “while eating, the victim started to feel uneasy. This caused them to immediately rush him to the State Specialist Hospital; where he was given medical attention, but later died.

“After the victim’s family reported to us at station, I sent out officers from the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department to apprehend the suspect.

When officer arrived at the site, they noticed a huge group of angry youngsters who had invaded the victim’s home to lynch the suspect.

However, we were able to manage the angry youths and arrested the suspect”

The police commissioner added that the suspect, in her statement, confessed to the crime. She said that she bought the poison from the market after she made up her mind to kill her husband.

Meanwhile, the suspect who was paraded at the command headquarters also told pressmen that she killed her husband because she was tired of the marriage.
