Hakeem Lawal Mourns KWASU VC, Describes Death as Geat Loss to Kwara, Humanity

The Kwara State Gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal has described the death of the Vice-Chancellor of the state owned University (KWASU) Prof. Mohammed Mustapha Akanbi (SAN) as a great loss to the State and humanity.

The Ilorin born financial expert while reacting to the unfortunate demise via a press release from his media office made available to journalists in Ilorin said “Prof. Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi was a star in all ramifications, he was an uncommon highflier, who although died at a very prime age of 51 years, yet he not only rose to the peak of his career as a learned silk, he also attained the enviable rank of Professorship at a relatively young age.

LAWAL added that “upon his assumption of office as the second Vice-Chancellor of the Kwara State University, he established far-reaching reforms, some of which includes prioritizing staff welfare, expansion of faculties and championing several other laudable initiatives, aimed at taking the institution to the next level, not minding the almost zero encouragement and support from the institution’s proprietor.

According to him, “Mustapha is a clear definition of the age-long saying ‘where there’s will, there’ll always be ways’. He represented the ‘can-do spirit’ of the average Kwaran. He was a true and worthy representative of the famed Mustapha Akanbi family.”

The leading gubernatorial hopeful however prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest, and give the family (immediate and extended), the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, stressing that all and sundry should take solace in the reality that he lived a worthy life, that’ll stand the test of time in history.
