The Gubernatorial candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the forthcoming 2023 general election in Kwara State, Waziri Yakubu Gobir, on Sunday pledged that his administration will vehemently tackle poverty when elected to office in 2023.
Waziri who spoke at the Headquarters of the Nasrul-lahi-li Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) said his administration would put policies that will eliminate and ease the abject poverty ravaging the state.
Gobir, called Aláànú Mẹ̀kúnnù, noted that his visit to NASFAT was to seek prayers for his victory and the conduct of a peaceful election in the state.
According to the candidate, “I am a NASFAT member because my mother was also a member of this great family. We are here for your prayers and are grateful for the warm reception we’ve received from this great family. We know the value of Al-Quran recitation and we are here for it. Loving one’s community is part of religion and it is religious to participate in politics and that is why the likes of me are taking a leading role in active participation”
He added, “my reason for venturing into politics is to liberate our people from the abject poverty they dwell in. I am standing before this noble family today to make a covenant that if elected in the 2023 general election as Governor of the State I will change the narrative and set a new course of positive development.”
Alhaji Abdullahi Aliu Alaya, the Missioner, of NASFAT, urged Gobir not to relent in his request for prayer and consultation. He advised the gubernatorial candidate to move closer to the organization through any of the 35 branches across the state.
The missionary also eulogized Waziri Yakubu Gobir for his support for the less privileged.
