The Zonal Chairman of Nasrul-Lahi-Li Fathi, NASFAT, Oyo Zone One, Alhaji Bayo Azeez says the federal government should review policies that are causing more harm than good to the people for national growth.
Alhaji Azeez stated this at this year’s Ibadanland retreat with the theme “Towards Redefining and Meeting the Core Needs” held at the Ilaji Hotel and Resort, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The NASFAT chairman who made the assertion on the backdrop of the challenges Nigerians are facing in accessing the new naira notes and the prolonged fuel scarcity noted that government should promptly take action when its policy is felt negatively by the people they govern.
The cleric urged the people to always be patient with the government during challenging times as no man was infallible, while also stressing that people should draw nearer to God for solutions to problems.
He also urged the citizens not to choose leaders based solely on religion as the nation goes to the polls in a few weeks’ time.
In a remark, the chairman, organising committee of the retreat, Barrister Yakub Fadare said the programme was put together to reassess and reposition the faithful towards achieving the vision and mission of an ideal society.
One of the participants, who is also the spokesperson of NASFAT, Challenge, Ibadan and Deputy Director, Information and Communication Technology, ICT, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaja Wasilat Salami noted that the retreat has further broadened her knowledge of Islam.
Alhaja Salami enjoined other participants not to take the knowledge gained from the retreat with levity.
