2023 Census: Kwara Publicity C’ttee Members Charged on Rigorous Sensitisation

The Deputy Governor of Kwara state, Mr Kayode Alabi on Tuesday tasked members of the publicity committee for the forthcoming 2023 Population and Housing Census in the state to embark on a rigorous and viral sensitisation across the state to ensure a well embrace exercise.

Alabi, who is the chairman publicity committee said this during a one-day capacity-building workshop for the members held at the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ hall, Ilorin, the state capital.

The deputy governor, who was represented at the workshop by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications, Mrs Christiana Sonibare charged the members to double-up the sensitisation most especially in rural areas.

Declaring the workshop open, the Federal Commissioner of the NPC for the state, Alhaji AbdulRazak Gidado said the aim of the workshop “is to ensure broad based national support and cooperation for the implementation of the activities of the national population commission, especially the coming 2023 census.

“The workshop would also help to equip the publicity committee members with the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out publicity activities in support of census 2023 at the grassroots.

“Census is a technical exercise with distinct terminology, members are expected to have a deeper understanding of the census methodology in order to effectively sensitize and mobilise the people for the 2023 census”.

He urged the members of the committee to go out and discharge the assignment as part of their patriotic to their country.

Also speaking the state Director, National Orientation Agency, Olusegun Adeyemi, expressed optimism that Nigeria will get the desired result this time around, considering the level of preparation by the NPC for the impending national population and housing census exercise.
