PWDs advocate accessible facilities at airports

A Coalition of Disability Organisations (CODO), has wants stakeholders in the aviation sub-secto to ensure accessible facilities for persons with disabilities within the Airports environment.

The Executive Director of the Coalition, Mr David Anyaeye, made the call at a news conference in Abuja.

Mr Anyaene who expressed concern over the level of discrimination against PWDs especially at airports, called on aviation authority to urgently address the issue to aid the movement of PWDs, while making sure no passenger is discriminated on the basis of status.

He maintained that the organisation would continue to equip persons with disabilities with adequate information about services, safety and security within the airports.

Responding, the Permanent secretary of the ministry of aviation, Mr Abel Enitan, represented by Herbert Ndumele in the ministry, said the ministry has demonstrated high level of commitment through necessary institutional reforms and private sector partnerships aimed at building capacity and creating infrastructure that promotes inclusion of persons with disabilities travel without any form of discrimination at airports across the country.
