Former secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Alh Rasaq Lawal, on Tuesday, named his newborn son Lawal Olohunlalaro Alabi, in fond memory of his late political father and former governor of Kwara State, Rear Admiral Mohammed Alabi Lawal.
Rasaq Lawal was special adviser, Political and Legislative Matters and later Special Duties commissioner under the administration of the late Lawal between 1999 and 2003.
The brief but colourful ceremony which was held at Mejindadi compound, Oke – Aluko, Ilorin, brought together political associates of the late Governor Lawal, loyalists and appointees of the incumbent Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq.

Dignitaries that graced the ceremony from the government side included the chairman of APC in the state, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, two close allies of Governor AbdulRazaq , Dr Mohammed Ghali Alaaya and Alh Saadu Salahu, Special Adviser on Media, Alh Bashir Adigun, Senior Special Assistant on Religion (Islam), Alh Ibrahim Danmaigoro, National Population Commission’s commissioner for Kwara State, Alh Rasak Gidado and former commissioner for Information in the state, Alh Raheem Adedoyin.

In a brief sermon, the Imam Seji, Oke-Aluko, Sheikh AbdulKareem Mohammed Lawal, urged parents to ensure proper upbringing of their children in Islamic way.

This, he said becomes necessary to ensure that the children grow up to become responsible citizens.
