Islamic clerics on Monday gathered in Ilorin, Kwara State to pray for peace and tranquility in the country.
The clerics offered the prayer for the country at a thanksgiving prayer organised in honour of non – executive director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), Dr Mohammed Ghali Alaaya and Professor AbdulLateef Bako of the University of Abuja.
The prayer session which was at the instance of Alaaya family was led by Sheikh Murtala Nurudeen Alaaya.
The clerics equally prayed God to grant Nigeria economic buoyance in the year 2024.
Imam Alaaya reminded those in positions of authority that it’s only Allah that gives power, urging them not to be overwhelmed by their positions, ” because it’s not your making, but Allah’s will.”
In a brief sermon,Imam Mahmud Sulaiman Sakele, enjoined those in positions of authority to always seek Allah’s guidance to enable them succeed in office.
He charged them to pay adequate attention to the welfare of the poor masses.
In a goodwill message, senior adviser and counselor to Kwara State governor, Alh Saadu Salahu
extoled the virtues of Dr Mohammed Ghali, describing him as a trustworthy ally of Governor AbdulRazaq.
He said that Ghali’s appointment , like others ,came at the God’s appointed time
Salahu sought clerics continuous prayer for the administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and that of Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Diginitaries that graced the event included the special adviser on Media, Alh Bashir Adigun, senior special assistant on Religion(Islam), Alh Ibrahim Danmaigoro and focal person of National Social Investment Programmmes (NSIP) in Kwara State, Dr Rabiat Shehu- Jimoh Alabere.
The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ubandawaki ward, Alh Alabi Ishola led other party chieftains and members to the event.
