The Miyetti Allah Kauthal Hore- the Fulani socio- cultural association on Thursday urged the Alafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and Oyo State government to ignore calls for the dethronement of Sarkin Fulani of Igangan, Alh Salihu AbdulKadir.
The association’s appeal followed a call by one Yakubu Bello on the Alafin and Oyo State government to remove the Sarkin Fulani Igangan.
In a statement signed by the Oyo State chapter’s chairman of the association, Salihu Ibrahim Dende, after the group’s members emergency meeting in Ibadan, it said Yakubu Bello lacked the legal authority to speak on its behalf.
The statement which was made available to newsmen in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital reads in part : ” The attention of the above named association has been drawn to a call by one Alh Yakubu Bello on his Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, the Alafin of Oyo and the Oyo State government to dethrone the Sarikin Fulani of Oyo State, Alh Salihu AbdulKadir.
“We wish to categorically tell the general public that Yakubu Bello lacks the legal authority to speak on behalf of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breaders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) as the association has a substantive chairman and secretary who can speak on behalf of MACBAN and Fulani community of Oyo State.
” We are appealing to Oyo State government and our respected Alafin of Oyo to ignore such calls as it emanated from an unauthorized person. Alh Salihu AbdulKadir has been living peacefully with his host community before the coming of elements like Yakubu to Oyo State.
” The Sarkin Fulani of Oyo State has since challenged anybody on the face of the earth to come out with evidence on the allegations leveled against him”.
The statement added that the association would not hesitate to take legal action against Bello ” if he continues with his unguided statement using the name of Miyetti Allah.”
