The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state on Saturday 31st of July held a peaceful Congresses across 193 Wards in the state and adopted consensus arrangements in picking its leaders.
We could recalled that the party’s stakeholders and state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had on Friday recommended the consensus option to the party’s to further foster peace and unity amongst party members in the state.
The exercise witnessed large turnout of party faithfuls in many centres visited by our reporter, and saw APC members participating in the exercise under a peaceful atmosphere.
Representative of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planing Committee (CECPC) were also seen supervising the exercise in some centres.
Speaking with newsmen amid the exercise in Ilorin, the APC chairman in the state, Alh Abdullahi Samari, confirmed that all the executives across the 193 wards emerged through consensus arrangement, in accordance with the wise counsel of Governor AbdulRazaq and critical party stakeholders.
Samari also appreciated all party members for their peaceful conduct and oneness during the exercise said it delight him that the party members yielded to the call of the National Secretariat and came together as one big family in picking its leaders at Ward level throughout the state.
In a similar development, a Special Adviser on Strategy to Governor AbdulRazaq, Alh Saadu Salahu who spoke with newsmen at his Ibagun ward in Okelele area of Ilorin East local government area, attributed the success of the exercise to the outstanding performance of the governor.
“In line with the directive of national caretaker committee and the state governor, we adopted consensus arrangements for all the candidates in the 193 wards at a stakeholders forum meeting on Friday. The large turn out was in appreciation of the governor’s exceptional performance in the past two years,” Salahu added.
