The aspiration of Hon. Abdulwaheed Shola Jimoh Idiagbon, fondly called SIJ, to contest for the Federal House of Representatives, seat on Thursday received a boost at the homestead as the family organised him a special prayer.
The special prayer, attended by the family members and well wishers of the politician, was led by the Chief Imam of Idiagbon compound mosque, Alhaji Aremu Salihu, at his ancestral home, along Emir’s road, Ilorin.
Idiagbon is eyeing an APC ticket to represent the people of Ilorin East and South Federal Constituency in the forthcoming 2023 general election.
Speaking on the sideline of the prayer, Mr. Suleiman Oba Idiagbon, who is an APC stakeholder in Ilorin South and president of Idiagbon Youth Descendant Progressive Association, eulogied the good deeds of the aspirant.
He said “Shola, is our pride, due to uncommon traits of him; he has been doing a lot in terms of community and human capital development, such as provision of solar light, borehole water, payment of less privileged students school fees and other empowerment to people.
We could recall that Shola Idiagbon, contested the party’s ticket in 2019 election for the same position and laid claim to the wining of the party’s primary election but eventually relinquished the ticket to the present occupier after a lot of brouhaha in the interest of the party success.
Speaking on how the aspirant loss the party ticket in the last election, Suleiman said “It was very glaring that Shola won the party ticket in the last election, but, it’s now history. Meanwhile, we would like to appeal to the party’s leadership to give every aspirant a free level playing ground this time around and allow the popular person clinch the party ticket”
Also speaking, Mr Adeleke Alabi, who affirmed that commencing such aspiration with prayer is not new to the family and well wishers of the philanthropist, saying that the family also did the same thing in 2019 and noted that all other activities will then followed.
In their remarks, the duo of party stalwarts, Hon. Olarenwaju Omotosho, who is a chairman of Balogun Fulani Ward II and Alhaji Kuburat Balogun-Fulani acknowledged support of the aspirant to the unity and progress of the party and prayed God grant his dream.
Also speaking, Alhaji Babatunde Oseni and Alhaji Musa Ahmed Olori, talked on good character of the aspirant and why he deserved support of everyone in terms of prayers and physical backing said “Shola, is an epitome of Omoluabi of great ‘Omoluabi’ and humanity per excellence”
