The chief Imam of Ogbomoso land, Alhaji Teliat Yunus, has hailed the appointment of Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as the Soun-elect of the town.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state had on Saturday approved the appointment of Olaoye, a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), as the Soun-elect.
In a statement made available to the Accurate News, the chief Imam said the ascension of Olaoye to the Soun stool is a new beginning for the town.
“For nearly five decades, we enjoyed an esteemed and distinguished leadership of the land and for about 20 months now, we have been in dire bereavement as our exalted stool has been vacant,” the statement reads.
“It is indeed a new dawn in Ogbomosoland, a new beginning and a new path to chart the progress of our glorious land.
“Hence, I feel elated and hereby enjoin all Oghomoso indigenes at home and in the diaspora to join hands with our Soun-Elect Prince Afolabi Olaoye in building a peaceful, harmonious, and prosperous Ogbomosoland.
“May Almighty Allah bestow upon him, knowledge and wisdom, grant him long life and good health, bless his reign, and increase Ogbomosoland in abundance. Amin.”
The stool of Soun became vacant after the demise of Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III, in December 2021, at the age of 95.
Honestly and gospel speaking, what has an ordained Pastor in the vineyard of God has to do with the tradition of the land? Can a juju priest without indoctrination into the sanctuary of God be made or appointed to the pastoral position? There’s difference between the two positions. A traditionalist has the capability of consulting idols, please his people at all costs while a Pastor consults God and indoctrinates people into the worship of the supreme God. The Creator. I am surprised!!!
