Accolades As GDSS Students, Staff Send Forth Principal, Abdullahi Bashar Olesin

Wednesday, July 24, 2024, will forever remain green in the memory of the family, associates and well-wishers of the immediate past principal of Government Day Senior Secondary School, Adewole, Ilorin, Kwara State, Alhaji Abdullahi Bashar Olesin.

That was the day the appreciative management, staff and students of the school held a befitting and colourful sent forth ceremony for Olesin who retired from the service of Kwara State government after a meritorious 35 years of service.

It was positive testimonies and accolades all the way for the retired principal from the students, staff, management and professional bodies, including the Nigeria Union of Teachers( NUT) and the Association of Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools( ANCOPPS).

The speakers at the event included the ANCOPSS president in the state, Comrade Abdullahi Umar Usman, ex- principal of the school, Alh Sulaiman AbdulKareem, NUT representative and principal of GDJSS, Adewole, Ahmed AbdulLateef Tejidini, ANCOPSS state secretary, Sidikat Muhammed- Usman; and principal, GDSS Adewole, Alhaja Ramat Folashade AbdulGaniyu, amongst others.

All the speakers described Olesin as God-fearing, humble, and a great administrator who ensured the welfare of not only the students but all his co-workers.

” As you bid farewell to an illustrious 35- year career, I join the entire school community in celebrating your remarkable journey. Your dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to educational development have left an indelible mark on our institution,” a speaker saidd .

Another speaker said:” Alhaji Abdullahi Bashar Olesin is a good man and a kindhearted boss with a significant impact on his colleagues and subordinates. He played a significant role in shaping the work culture with his subordinates, which embodied qualities that not only drive the success of the organisation, but also foster a positive and productive work place “.
The honoree was accompanied to the event by family members and friends, including his wife, Alhaja Afusat Olesin, Alh Jimoh Jabata of TESCOM, Alh Sulaiman Olesin, a deputy director at SUBEB, Ustaz Sakariyau Olesin, Alh Ahmed Onikoko and his wife, Alhaja Amudat( principal, GDSS Alore) , former chairman of Ilorin East LGA, Alh Babatunde Sa’ad, Bursar, Kwara State College of Education, Lafiagi, Alh AbdulRasaq Salman and regional editor of LEADERSHIP newspaper, Alh Abdullahi Olesin.
