Any Corrupt Officer Found Will Be Dismissed – NIS Comptroller

Kwara Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Compt. Aminu Shamsuddin has warned officers to stay away from any form of bribery and corruption.

Compt. Shamsuddin said that any corrupt NIS officer found wanting in bribery and corruption would be dismissed from service.

The Comptroller, ably represented by DCI Momoh Aliyu, Deputy Comptroller of NIS made the warning during the Passing Out Parade (POP) of the newly recruited officers in Ilorin on Wednesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a total number of 190 newly recruited officers were inducted in to NIS, Kwara Command.

“Avoid bribe in the course of duty, if you are caught in the act, you will be dismissed from the service,” Shamsuddin said.

He congratulated the new officers and welcomed them into NIS, urging them to be submissive, well behaved and loyal to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Comptroller explained that the first step of being an officer with NIS was to be inducted into the service, in order to have some prior knowledge of the job.

Shamsuddin said that the new officers would be given two weeks break, after which they would be distributed in various unit in the command.

“We have started the induction training since September 5, in Ilorin and the recruits includes position from Immigration Assistant 3 (IA3) to Assistant Inspector of Immigration (AII) and Assistant Superintendent of Immigration 2 (ASI 2),” he said.

The Comptroller however said that after the induction, the recruits would undergo training at three Immigration Training Schools (ITS) across the nation, according to their ranks.

He said that ASI 2 will be posted to Service training school in Kano, while AII to be trained in Orlu training school, Imo state and IA 3 to be in Ahoada training school, River state.

Shamsuddin said that after the training, they would be certificated and become full immigration officer and dress in full uniform.

NAN reports some of the new officers were given award of excellence during the period of induction training.
