Factional Caucus in the All Progressives Congress, APC in Kwara State was late hours of Thursday 10th of December alleged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of mounting pressure on the acting National Chairman of the party, Mai Malla Buni to replaced Hon. Bashir Bolarinwa with another person of his choice in Friday swearing-in of the acting Chairmen across the states.
The factional caucus of the party disclosed this while addressing Journalists at the party secretariat, Oni-Kanga Area, G.R.A Ilorin by its spokesperson, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo said “we convene this press conference as a result of the news of the attempt by the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to prevent from swearing-in kwara state chairman of the Party, Hon. Bolarinwa along with others today by the acting National chairman”
“This is to us is a discriminatory application of the Caretaker policy of the party. In a virtual National Executive Committee meeting of Tuesday 8th of December 2020, it was decided by the National authority of the party that all structure of the party from ward to the National level be dissolved. It was later further decided that all existing structure of the party should be converted to Care taker administration till 30th of June 2021”
“But, as at the time of addressing you, gentlemen of the press, Alhaji Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa has not been invited to the swearing in ceremony that will take place in Abuja today”
“The information at our disposal is that Governor AbdulRazaq has gone to the National Headquarters of the Party to urge the National Caretaker Committee to exempt Bolarinwa from swearing in ceremony on the ground that kwara Executive of 2018 was not a product of a congress”
“This is farther from the truth. The state executive committee of the party established in2018 under Bolarinwa chairmanship was fully constituted by members of the party, including Governor AbdulRazaq”
The caucus, cited the judgement of the Supreme Court when the Bolarinwa led Executive was challenged by the erstwhile Chairman of the Party that later defected to PDP, under Ishola Balogun Fulani. Added that the judgement of that Supreme Court in which Bolarinwa was affirmed as authentic chairman of the party has put to rest the illegality claim of the composition of the party under Bolarinwa.
The caucus which claimed to have the two serving Minister in the Buhari cabinet from the state and majority of the Governorship aspirants in the last general elections on their side said “it will be illegal, illogical and certainly unacceptable to base exclusion of Kwara State on the national policy of care taker policy of the party now”
