Chief Bayo Lawal has been sworn-in as the new Deputy Governor of Oyo state, today by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Munta Abimbola.
The chief judge administered the oath of Office and Allegiance on Chief Bayo Lawal at swearing in ceremony held at the Executive Chamber of the Governor, Agodi, Secretariat Ibadan.
The development became imperative following the impeachment of Engineer Rauf Olaniyan by the Oyo State House of Assembly over alleged misconduct of office and misappropriation of funds among others.
In a remark, Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde admonished the new Deputy Governor to put the interest of the people of the state first in his new assignment and to see the position as a position of trust.
Governor Makinde hinted that the new Deputy Governor would continue to oversee his former duty post, the Housing Corporation of Oyo State, as well as the Ministry Of Justice and the State Road Road Maintenance Agency, ( OYSROMA).
Speaking with journalists, the new Deputy Governor, Chief Bayo Lawal promised to discharge his duties in line with the constitutional provision of his office and in the interest of the people of the state.
Chief Lawal also promised to discharge his duties with absolute loyalty to his boss, Governor Seyi Makinde.
In attendance at the event include, Speaker of the state House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Chief Dayo Ogungbenro, Members of the State Executive Council, Principal Lawmakers of the state legislature as well as Service Chiefs among others.
The newly sworn-in Deputy Governor, aged 68 was a former Oyo State Attorney General in 1999.
Chief Bayo Lawal is a holder of two Bachelor degrees from the Prestigious University of Ibadan. First, in Economics while the Second is in Law respectively .
