Parents and guardians must be sensitized against the increasing recruitment of children for nefarious activities by the criminal elements in society.
To this end, religious and traditional leaders, as well as school managers, must be well informed on the new antics of the criminal groups.
The Ogun State Director, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mr Kolawole Obadina made this known in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital while speaking with Radio Nigeria.
He explained that the agency was increasing awareness of the issue with a view to discouraging the engagement of innocent children in terrorism.
“NOA cannot do this job alone, all these children we are talking about are from one home or another, and sincerely speaking all stakeholders should help us to disseminate this information, “NOA Director said.
Mr Obadina explained that innocent children were being recruited as fake soldiers, with the aim of training them to launch attacks to disrupt the peace of the country.
He stated that such planned attacks increase the rate of insecurity and the number of school drop-outs in the country.
The NOA Director appealed to parents to guide their children on the right path and monitor them properly against being used for nefarious activities.
