Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has approved the payment of salaries of workers for the month of April, ahead of the Sallah celebration.
In a statement on Monday, the spokesman of the Governor Isa Gusau said the early release of the salary is to enable workers prepare for Eid-il-Fitr celebrations which is expected to hold by the weekend.
It confirmed that workers across the state have started receiving alerts for the April salary.
“Governor Zulum has always argued that payment of salaries does not count as achievement since salaries are debts owed workers for their services, as such, the governor has never defaulted on monthly payment of salaries and pensions while he has released over N20 billion to clear gratuities owed retired workers”, the statement read.
The statement wished Muslim ummah in the state a memorable Sallah celebration in advance.
