The General Manager Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation, Mr Kayode Aremu has explained that the licence renewal debt over which the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) seeks to sanction the State Broadcasting Corporation has accumulated from 2006.

Aremu made this revelation in a press statement issued by him in reaction to the NBC announcement.

The licence debt, according to the Radio Kwara chief, affects Midland FM, AM and Kwara Television.

NBC had directed several broadcast stations across the country to shutdown over default in the payment of their licence fees.

Aremu however assured that Kwara State is already in talks with the NBC.

He also noted that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had in 2021 paid the sum of N10 million out of the accumulated debt.
