Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called for the cancellation of last Saturday’s Presidential election, insisting that it failed the credibility and transparency test.
Obasanjo in a letter addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari warned that ‘tension is building up and please let all elections that do not pass the credibility and transparency test be cancelled and be brought back with areas where elections were disrupted for next Saturday, March 4, 2023.
Furthermore, the former President advised that if his advice is heeded both BVAS and Server should be changed to achieve maximum effect.
Obasanjo said that ‘To know which stations or polling units were manipulated, let a Committee of INEC staff and representatives of the four major political parties with the chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) look into what must be done to have a hitch-free election next Saturday’.
While wishing that President Buhari achieves the achievement of his dream smooth transition to a successor, Obasanjo warned that Buhari should not listen to persons who may tell him that it does not matter what happens.
‘On no occasion should you be seen to be part of the collusion or compromise. When the die is cast, it will be your problem as the Chief Executive of the nation. The chairman of INEC may sneak out of the country or go back to the Ivory tower.’
Former President Obasanjo, however, pleaded with compatriots to continue to exercise patience until the ‘wrong ‘is righted. According to him, ‘I strongly believe that nobody will toy with the future and fortune of Nigeria.
