National Missioner of the DAARU-r- RAHMAT Islamic Society (DARMAT) Sheikh Musibahudeen Olawale has said that, the implementation of Shari’ah panels especially in the Southwest part of the country will enlighten Muslim communities to address their challenges in terms of business transactions, marriage, right of women, divorce, inheritance and others .
Olawale, however, said that it would not destabilising the zone since the Shari’ah law administration is meant for Muslim Ummah only.
The cleric made the clarification in a statement issued on the sidelines of the recent criticisms that greeted the move to introduce Shari’ah law in Ekiti state and other parts of the Southwest part of the country.
He said that, the implementation of the Islamic laws would also go a long way of addressing equity, justice, and harmonious relationships among the Muslim Ummah.
Olawale noted that, “the people of the zone have different names despite that, we patronise the same market to buy food items without any crisis, hence the implementation of Shari’ah law should not cause any disaffection whatsoever since it is meant for Muslims”.
He added that, “Shari’ah, simply means a body of religious law and code of conduct. In Islam, our code is a set rule, principle, and values. In a word, all the above factors determined the content of our Shari’ah.
“As of today, if the Muslim population in Southwest is 55% upward and they are living with other religion bodies in peace according to the lessons of their Shari’ah. This opines that Islam enjoys welfare, love, good relationships, and justice”.
Olawale maintained further that, “Nigeria is a secular state, and the process is that the government and its states shall not adopt any religion as a state religion and that every person shall have right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion.
“The notion of Shari’ah implementation in Southwest is for Muslim, and that should not result in a scene or fuss.”
“Since this is a path of Muslim golden opportunities for Muslims to exermin their issues, I strongly believe it will have no side effect or destabilise the Southwest in any form.
“And even Quranic injuction also back the law. For example Q45:13 says, “We have set you and sent you to establish a way and constituting rules of religion, so you follow that way and do not yield to the desires of those who know not”.
Olawale, therefore, enjoined the people of the Southwest parts of the country not to be worried about the proposed implementation of Shari’ah law because it is only meant for the Muslim and not for all.
