The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has said that it is committed to the institutionalization of federal character principles in the recruitment and appointment into public institutions.
The Kwara State Coordinator of the commission, Mr Babatunde Opoola, stated this today while playing host to the Chairman, Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, who led his members of executive on a familiarization visit to the commission’s office in Ilorin.
Opoola noted that Hajia Faridah Dankaka-led Federal Character Commission prioritized even distribution of job opportunities towards ensuring that no part of the country felt marginalized.
The FCC state Coordinator, who is a former Journalist with The Herald Newspapers, said the Executive Chairman of the commission, Hajia Dankaka, had emplaced a measure to stave off any attempt to swindle prospective job seekers under the guise securing employment for them through the backdoor.
Opoola explained that changing the narrative in the operation of the commission was due to foresight and responsible leadership of the commission chairman.
He added that the standstill in the operation of some state offices of the commission nationwide had been addressed as all of them now function properly.
Earlier, the Chairman, Kwara State Council of NUJ, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, said they were at the FCC state office to collaborate with the commission in the areas of mutual interest.
Ahmed, who commended Hajia Faridah Dankaka for being a good ambassador of Kwara State in the Federal Character Commission, said the clamour for national unity can only be guaranteed when no section of the country was treated as second fiddle.
The NUJ Chairman also congratulated Opoola on his appointment, saying that he had no doubt about his ability to deliver with his antecedents in the journalism profession.
