Committee announces indefinite postponement of send-off for Kwara REC

A send-off ceremony planned for the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kwara State, Mallam Garba Attahiru Madami, has been postponed indefinitely.

The event, scheduled for July 22, 2023, is at the instance of Committee of Friends of Garba Attahiru Madami to recognize his contributions to credible electoral processes preparatory to the completion of his tenure on July 25, 2023.

This was contained in a statement issued in Ilorin by the Chairman and Assistant Secretary of the Organizing Committee, Mohammed Tunde Akanbi and Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed respectively.

The statement said the rationale behind the planned ceremony is to celebrate Madami for symbolizing integrity, impeccable character, competence and piety among other virtues throughout his tenure as the helmsman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kwara State.

The committee added that the ceremony is also designed to encourage and inspire contemporaries and subordinates of the outgoing Kwara REC to exhibit patriotism in their various undertakings.

While congratulating Madami for his service to God and humanity, the committee regretted inconveniences the postponement might have caused those earlier invited for the planned send-off ceremony.

The statement specifically expressed profound gratitude to the organizing committee under the auspices of Friends of Garba Attahiru Madami for deeming it fit to celebrate the outgoing Kwara State Resident Electoral Commissioner.
