Court convicts Doyin Okupe, Obi’s presidential campaign DG

Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council of Labour Party, Doyin Okupe has been convicted of money laundering.

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday, ruled that Okupe breached the Money Laundering Act.

The court, which was presided over by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu found Okupe guilty of contravening sections 16(1)&(2) of the Money Laundering Act and accepting cash in excess of the threshold allowed under the Act without going through a financial institution.

The judge has stood down proceedings till 1:45pm. This is to allow Okupe to exercise his right under Section 310 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act to call witnesses to testify about his character.

Thereafter, the court will proceed to pronounce its sentence.

  1. Anyone found in money laundering in Nigeria should face the full weight of the Nigeria law irrespective of tribe or position. But , false accusations on any individual will bring the wrath of God upon the accuser.
