Court Remands Hanifa’s Killer, Two Others In Prison Custody, As Residents Condemn Burt of School

A Kano State Magistrate Court presided over by Chief Magistrate Muhammad Jibir, has ordered Abdulmalik Tanko, Hashim Issyaku and Fatima to be remanded in a correctional centre over the killing of a 5-year-old girl, Hanifa Abubakar.

The order followed their arraignment by the police at the court, located at Gidan Murtala, Kano metropolis, on charges of criminal conspiracy, Kidnapping, concealing / Keeping in confinement a Kidnapped Person and culpable homicide on Monday.

It will be recalled that Hanifa was allegedly kidnapped on December 4, 2021, on her way back from Islamiyya and killed by her school teacher in Kano who initially demanded a N6m ransom from her parents.

The police arrested the teacher and his accomplices last week.

The accused were remanded in prison custody after the charges were read while the matter was slated for February 2, 2022.

Meanwhile, some residents of Dakata community, have condemned the actions of those who razed the shool.

The residents noted that the structure was not owned by the school proprietor.

According to one of the residents, Malam Ibrahim Muhammad, disclosed that the residents in the area woke up on Monday to discover that the property had been burnt down by people suspected to be irate youths on Sunday midnight.

He added that most people felt it was not justified because the proprietor of the school was not the owner of the property.
