Court Sentences Man to 6 Months imprisonment for Stealing Yam

A middle age man, Abubakar Bani has been sentenced to six months imprisonment at the Kaiama Magistrate Court in Kwara State for stealing Yam at another person’s farm.

The convict, who based in Kaiama was arrested by the operative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC following a complain by 2 farmers that one Abubakar Bani, a Fulani man has been stealing their Yams in the farm almost on daily basis.

According to the statement made available to the pressmen by the spokesperson of the NSCDC, Kwara Command, Babawale Afolabi stated that “at about 6;00hrs one Abubakar Bani brought to NSCDC office Kaiama Division by two Farmers, Ismaila Ebbo Mohammed and his neighbors of kibefandi compound, Kaiama. According to the complainant, they said the fulani boy has been stealing their yams in the farm on daily basis”

Babawale explained further that the suspect, Abubakar had confessed to have committed the crime and immediately the state commandant NSCDC, Makinde Iskil Ayinla gave the directive that he should be charged to court.

Said “Abubakar Bani, however charged to Kaiama magistrate court and sentenced to six months imprisonment at New Busaa Correctional Service, Niger State, for trespass and theft after pleaded guilty of the crime”
