Crisis Looms As Ondo Assembly Moves To Impeach Speaker, Majority Leader

There are alleged plans by members of the Ondo State House of Assembly to remove the Speaker, Olamide Oladiji and the Majority Leader, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi over alleged abuse of office, Nigerian Pilot has learnt.

It was reliable gathered that some lawmakers are no longer pleased with the Speaker and Ogunmolasuyi over alleged misappropriation of huge sum of money collected from the state government without accounting for it.

It was also gathered that some lawmakers who are in support of Ogunmolasuyi are currently having a meeting in Akure to avert the imminent impeachment before it would be taken to the plenary.

It was also learnt that some lawmakers are also making moves to impeach the Majority Leader to prevent him from becoming the Speaker when Oladiji is eventually impeached.

A source who spoke with journalists on the condition of anonymity doubted if Ogunmolasuyi and Oladiji would escape their removal.

He said, “I doubt if they would scale through. Don’t forget, they have both been benefiting heavily from their office without considering other lawmakers.”

The issue of money collected when they went to Abuja last year and short changed those who were unable to travel has not been settled.

“The roles they all played during the impeachment attempt against Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa are still fresh now that some lawmakers are loyal to the governor.”

Efforts to reach Ogunmolasuyi are not successful as he has not replied messages sent to him and not pick his calls. (Nigerian Pilot)
