Damaged Air Peace Plane Evacuated From Ilorin Airport’s Runway, Flight Resumes

An aircraft in the fleet of Air Peace which got its tyre bursted shortly after landing at the Ilorin International Airport on Friday 23rd of July, 2021 has been evacuated from runaway.

The panic development which forced airlines operators to cancelled their operations on Friday to Saturday afternoon because no plane can land nor take-off from the runway of the airport until the bursted tyre is replaced.

It was gathered that the plane had been moved to the hanger of the Nigerian Airforce in the airport for further maintenance services.

An official of the Airport however confirmed that the flight operations in and out of Ilorin has commenced as at Saturday evening.

The officer, who pleaded anonymity also denied rumour about plane crash in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Arik Air and Overland airlines had on Friday cancelled their flight schedules from Abuja to Ilorin as well as Ilorin-Lagos.

The incident left so many passengers who were waiting to board the Air Peace flight to Lagos at 11am on Friday stranded.

Most passengers, it was gathered resolved to travel by road why others returned home for fear of bad road network and insecurity.
