Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has expressed shock and sadness over the death of Deputy Director of Protocol in Government House Mr. Timothy Nathaniel, whom he described as a “dedicated officer and a perfect gentleman”.
Mr. Nathaniel, who was a Secretary of the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, died on Thursday after a brief illness. He was also the Chief Press Secretary to former Deputy Governor Mr. Peter Kisira.
The Governor in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye sends his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the bureaucrat who was a friend to all while diligently discharging his duties.
The Governor urges Nathaniel’s family members and other mourners to take solace in his impactful life as a diligent and humble public officer.
Governor AbdulRazaq asks God to repose the soul of Mr. Nathaniel and to look after his family.
Similarly, the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed grief over the transition of its former Secretary describing it as a rude shock.
The council in a condolence statement issued in Ilorin by the state NUJ Chairman and Secretary, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed and Omotayo Ayanda respectively said the contributions of the ex-scribe in upholding the integrity and sanctity of the union in the face of past adversity and tribulations remain invaluable.
The council observed that attributes such as humility, professionalism and comradeship stood the former NUJ Secretary out among his peers in the world of pen and unionism.
While noting that the vacuum created with the transition of Nathaniel would be difficult to fill, the statement prayed Almighty God to uphold his family in this moment of mourning and grief.
