Development: Incoming APC LG Administrators Will Follow Kwara Governor’s Footsteps – APC Stakeholders

The stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ilorin East local government area of Kwara State on Thursday held a crucial engagement with the elites, including civil servants and teachers in the area.

The engagement was organised to acquaint the elites in the area about what the APC’s chairmanship candidate for Ilorin East local government, Malam Lukman Agbelere has in stock for the people of the area, if elected as the council chairman on Saturday.

The APC stakeholders that addressed the elites who filled the main hall of GDSS Amule, Okelele, Ilorin, included the senior adviser/counselor, Alh Saadu Salahu, commissioner for Solid Minerals, Dr Afeez Abolore, senior special assistant on Religion ( Islam), Alh Ibrahim Danmaigoro, the education secretary of Ilorin East local government, Alh Raufu Asude, the director general of Ilorin East APC Campaign Council, Hon. Ali Jimoh and the APC chairmanship candidate, Malam Lukman Agbelere, who was accompanied by his running mate, Hajia Nafisat AbdulRaheem .

Addressing the gathering, the senior adviser /counselor, Alh Saadu Salahu, assured the people that the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has emplaced mechanisms that would make the much- celebrated local government autonomy operational and beneficial to the people at the grassroots.

He added that the governor has backed up his policies, especially on education and health schemes with necessary legal frame works through the enactment of appropriate laws by the state House of Assembly.

” Because of these laws put in place by the governor, the incoming administrations will find it easier to consolidate and implement policies and schemed beneficial to the people. All these laid down guidelines by the governor will ensure the workability of the local government autonomy,” he said.

Salahu recalled how the governor at the inception of his administration five years ago provided N7bn UBEC counterpart fundings which enabled the state to access N14bn which he noted, had been used to rehabilitate and construct over 600 schools across the state.

He expressed delight that the AbdulRazaq’s administration has ensured regular payment of workers salaries at both the state and local government areas in the last five years.

On food security, Salahu recalled that the governor recently procured 32 tractors for the 16 local government areas in the state to increase farmers’ productivity and food production.

He lauded the prudent management of scarce resources by the governor, assuring that:” The incoming local government administrations will follow the people – centered footsteps of the governor.”

Other speakers, including Dr Afeez Abolore and Alh Ibrahim Danmaigoro corroborated Salahu, asking the people to cast their votes for the APC candidates come Saturday for effective governance at the third tier of government.

The director general of Ilorin East APC Campaign Council,Hon. Ali Jimoh sought the elites, especially workers’ cooperation for the incoming APC chairman in the area.

He assured them that the APC chairmanship candidate, if elected on Saturday, will create a conducive working environment for the workers of the local government.

One of the respondents, the secretary of the Nigeria Union of Teachers in Ilorin East, Alh Safi Adanla said :” It has never been so good for teachers in the history of the state as we now have it under the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. Our salaries and promotions have been accorded topmost priority.”

He, however, urged the governor to meet some other demands of the teachers, including leave bonus and rural allowance for teachers serving in the rural areas.
