Eid-El-Fitri: NSCDC, FRSC Deploys 4,470 Personnel To Beef Up Security In Kwara

In a bid to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and visitors during the Eid-El-Fitr celebration, The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have deployed nothing less than 4,470 officers across the state.

This was disclosed in a press statement issued by the Public Relations Officers of the agencies on behalf of their Commandants and made available to The Accurate News Nigeria.

NSCDC statement signed by ASC 1 Ayoola Micheal Shola, read “The Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Umar J.G Mohammed has approved the deployment of 3,500 personnel across various strategic locations in the state.

“The deployment will spread across every corner of the state, paying special attention to areas at high risk of criminal activities such as black spots, flash points, vulnerable targets, and places known for frequent criminal activities.

“The personnels have been assigned the critical duties of preserving peace, averting disturbances, and swiftly addressing any security issues that may emerge before, during, and after the Sallah festivities.

“Additionally, Commandant Umar has instructed Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Heads of tactical units to enforce stringent security measures and maintain continuous vigilance over all Critical National Assets And Infrastructure within their jurisdiction.”

Also in a statement issued by SRC OB Basambo SPEO on behalf of FRSC Sector Commander Corps Commander Stephen Dawulung confirmed the deployment of 970 personnel for the Eid-el Fitr Special Patrol Operations across the state.

“The Special Patrol Operations is to commence from Monday 8 to Saturday 13 April 2024 with the aim of containing the surge in road traffic and its encumbrances  towards ensuring that motorists and all road users in Kwara State enjoy free and safe traffic flow during the Sallah celebrations.

“Towards this end the Sector Commander has confirmed the deployment of Forty two (42) patrol vehicles, two(2) power bikes, Four (4) Ambulances, Four (4) medium Private tow trucks and One 70 ton tow-truck which will be stationed along all major highways and other gridlock prone spots within Kwara State.

“In addition to Enforcement, the special operations will also focus on the intensification of purposeful public enlightenment, prompt removal of obstructions, traffic control as well as prompt response to Road traffic crashes, for which 24 hour rescue teams are being stationed at all Commands in Kwara State.

“I wish to use this medium to appeal to motorists in Kwara State to avoid risks that could expose them to Road Traffic crashes such as speed, overloading, Route Violation, Driving with worn-out tyres, and night journeys.Furthermore, do not hesitate to call our toll free number “122” to report any crash, gridlock, obstructions or traffic scenes that may require our attention.”
