The Ogun State Governor has been applauded by members of Irete-Ijebu Community in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the State for the approval of a new Oba for the ancient town.
The Community members said the approval of His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdul Ganiyu Olusegun Awokoya-Yesufu to occupy the stool of Obaship in one of the oldest town in Ijebuland is long overdue, saying that the step would help to preserve the town’s cultural and traditional heritage.
“It is thus a great achievement for us as a people that a Governor for the first time in history has decided to restore the glory of our town by given approval to the stool of Obaship to the rightful pedestal in the Committee of Communities in Ogun State” the Community members opined.
While appreciating the Governor for his magnanimous approval of the Obaship, community members home and abroad said as they look forward to the forthcoming presentation of Staff of office to son of the soil, Oba. Abdul Ganiyu Olusegun Awokoya-Yesufu the ONIRETE of Irete acknowledged the great dividend of democracy bestowed on the community by the State Government, promising to be ever greatful with heart full of gratitude to Prince Dapo Abiodun the Governor of Ogun State.
