Speaking at the meeting, the ward Chairman of the party Mr. Femi Arowolo said, the community and indeed the local government is lucky to have a resourceful son like Olufemi that is promoting not only his family name but also that of his community across Kwara and Nigeria.
Mr. Arowolo noted that the people have been waiting to hear from Hon. Charles his next line of action. He promised that the entire ward would do everything to support his political ambition to success.
While thanking the people for their support and prayers, Hon. Charles who is also know as ASOJU ODO announced to the people that he is ready to contest for Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency seat at the National Assembly. He said his decision was borne out of his burning desire to serve his people by providing quality representation and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
“The current situation in our various communities is unbearable. Poverty is ravaging our people. There are no decent and productive jobs for the youths and women. Education and Healthcare have become more expensive and even below standard. Our father and mothers are struggling to feed. Kidnappings and bank robbery have almost paralyzed the economy of our constituency”
“Our expectations from the people we gave power in the past were not fulfilled. They allow manipulation of our local government administration and marginalized the people at the grassroots. They failed to recognize and reward the struggle, hard work and sacrifices of our people for democracy.
“We can no longer wait endlessly. We are tired of their failed promises. We have decided to do it by ourselves and give the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots directly”.
“My declaration today is in line with the dreams and aspirations of the youth and women of our constituency, for me to be the face of our struggle for political and economic liberation. We are determined to achieve this together through the 2023 ballot revolution of the Young Progressives Party YPP and we would succeed by the grace of God”
