A fire outbreak in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Sunday consumed a four- bedroom flat including all the property inside the building.
It was gathered that the fire outbreak occurred at about 8.52pm at Ita- Elepa, Ifesowapo street, Ilorin.
It was gathered that the fire incident was caused by power surge.
The spokesman of Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.
Adekunle said:” On Sunday, 16th February 2025, at about 20:52 hours, the Kwara State Fire Service received a distress call reporting a fire outbreak at Ita-Elepa, Ifesowapo street, Ilorin.
” The fire crew responded swiftly and arrived to find a four-bedroom flat engulfed in flames. Despite their exceptional efforts to contain the fire and prevent its spread to nearby buildings, the entire structure was affected due to the late alert.
“Preliminary investigations identified a power surge as the cause of the fire.”
The owner of the house, Alh AbdulGaniyu Olesin, lamented that the building was completely razed with all the property inside it destroyed.
Olesin who is the head of the department of Social Studies at the Kwara State College of Education, Oro, appealed to the state government to come to his aid.
