Fire Service Recovers 2 Bodies After Car Plunges Into Kwara River

The Kwara State Fire Service says two corpses have been recovered after a vehicle plunged into a river in Akerebiata area along Sobi road, Ilorin East LGA of Kwara State.

Hassan Adekunle, head of media and publicity of the Kwara Fire Service said that on Saturday two human bodies and a Toyota Yaris car with Reg No APP544E was recovered from a river at Opposite Olusola Saraki Abattoir, along Sobi Road in Ilorin, the state capital.

According to him “rumour had it that the incident occurred during the Friday night downpour when the casualties were struggling to drive through the bridge and suddenly got stuck by the flood and pushed them into the river.

“In truth, the rescued work was like a joint operation. Because all the people in the neighbourhood gave their full support to the firemen throughout the operation.

“Therefore, the Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa urges the general public to please always avoid driving whenever there is a heavy downpour,” he said.

He added that the identities of the victims were yet to be known at the time of filling this report.
