The Director General, Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Inga, says properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed by flood in Kontagora local government Area of Niger state.
Alh Ibrahim in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Minna said the Agency has been directed by the State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, to investigate the matter with a view to coming up with better ways of addressing such problems in future.
He said the Governor also directed that relief materials should be given to the victims to alleviate their hardship.
The Director General of the Agency who described the incident as devastating, called on residents of the state to be wary of the location they build their houses to avoid the recurrence of such ugly incident.
Alh Ibrahim also advised the people of the state to also stick to NIMET warning alerts; which he said in most cases were accurate.
Ahj Ibrahim affirmed that no life was lost in connection to the flood.(FRCN)
