FOMWAN sponsor 52 primary school pupils education in Kwara

The Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) on Thursday sponsor 52 primary school pupils of Karumo Primary School in Ilorin.

Hajia Ni’mat Labaika, the Chairperson of FOMWAN, Kwara Chapter who spoke at the occasion, said that it is the mandate of the faith based organisation to reach out to the indigent and assist them in the society.

She explained that the association has done similar interventions in the past and many indigent children have benefitted from the gesture.

According to her, education remains a priority and important for all Nigerian children irrespective of the economic condition of the people.

She noted that all Nigerian children have right to be educated and this is one of the ways the association is given back to the society and complementing the efforts of the government.

Labaika therefore appealed to parents to ensure they do their part by sending the children to school and also train them through good upbringing children.

Also speaking, Dr Saudat Abdulbaqi, the Public Relations Officer of the Association , said 52 pupils will be sponsored through provision of school items and payment of PTA levies.

She noted that the members of the faith based organisation will continue to monitor the progress of the children and ensure they remain in school.

Also Hajia Bikqees Oladimeji, the Vice Chairperson of FOMWAN tasks mothers on the level of hygiene for their children, while observing that mothers have responsibilities of caring for the well being of their wards.

She also advised the mothers to make judicious use of the school items distributed to the pupils.

In her appreciative remark, Mrs Maimunat Gobir, the Headmistress of the School commended the association for the gesture, adding that well meaning Nigerians should also help indigent children to get education.

Also a representative of the mothers, Mrs Rashidat Asiribo, prayed for the members, while appealing for more intervention for the child.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the items distributed includes uniforms, school bags, books and stationeries. (NAN)
