Foundation gifts 100 aged women, widows, foodstuffs in Ilorin

A Non- Governmental Organization, Dan Maraya Charity Foundation, has gifted over 100 aged women and widows foodstuffs in Ilorin as a form of selfless service to humanity.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the sharing was done for aged women and widows in Ile Oyan and neighbouring compounds in Ilorin West Local Government of the state.

The Founder, Alhaji Abdulwasiu Yahaya said he was motivated to give back to the society due to the fact that growing up was not easy for him.

”Many things motivated me one of which was the fact that I am an orphan, I lost my parents at a tender age and growing up was not easy for me.

”That was what earned me the name Dan Maraya which means an orphan.

”I started giving out to people right from when I had little or nothing because, I believe in giving to people especially those that do not have.

”After looking at what I went through when I was in school that I do not have anyone to fall back on.

”That is why I decided now that the little I have now should be shared among the needy around me,” Alhaji Yahaya said.

He added that he had on Saturday given some selected 25 students from different compounds and local governments in the state the sum of 10,000 each.

One of the beneficiaries, Alhaja Hajara Qudus, commended the philanthropist for finding worthy of his kind gestures.

She urged others that are well to do in the compound to emulate him.

Another beneficiary, Alhaja Bola Suleiman also commended the giver and prayed that God will bless him more to give back to the society than he is doing presently.

Alhaja Rianat Yahaya, the step mother of the donor for coming back home to show his philanthropic gesture.

She urged others in the society to also toe his line and not wait for when they have plenty things to give out.

Alhaja Yahaya said no matter how small one think the foodstuffs shared was, the beneficiaries would pray for him when eating them.

The cleric who coordinated the sharing of gifts, Alfa AbdulRazaq Yahaya, also urged other well to do individuals in the society to embrace the act of giving to ameliorate the sufferibgs of the people.

He said as small as the foodstuffs given were, if such is done by 10 different people in the society daily, it will bring smiles to the faces of people around.

NAN reports that the foodstuffs shared were Semovita, salt, paghetti and noodles.
