FRSC Recovers Stolen Vehicle During Routine Enforcement

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recorded another milestone in its crackdown on vehicle-related crimes, following the recovery of a stolen vehicle during routine enforcement operations at RS2.1114 Isolo Unit Command.

According to the Corps, on Saturday, 28th February 2026, at about 17:11 hours, a Toyota Sienna (Ash colour) with registration number LSD438GK was apprehended for Vehicle Licence Violation (VLV) after the driver failed to produce valid documents. In line with enforcement protocols, the vehicle was impounded.

Subsequent checks revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen and the driver declared wanted. On Monday, the suspect was handed over in handcuffs by officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Ajao Division, for further action.

The FRSC described the recovery as evidence of its growing operational intelligence capacity and the effectiveness of routine patrol enforcement in combating auto theft. “What began as a simple traffic violation check ultimately led to the interception of a stolen vehicle; a clear testament to the vigilance, professionalism, and uncompromising standards of FRSC personnel,” the Corps stated.

The Corps noted that its successes in stolen vehicle recovery have been enhanced by the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS), which provides digital verification and traceability. Through NVIS, numerous stolen vehicles have been identified, tracked, and recovered nationwide, strengthening inter-agency collaboration and curbing criminal syndicates involved in vehicle theft and identity manipulation.

The FRSC reiterated that enforcement goes beyond compliance with traffic laws, serving as a tool for national security, crime prevention, and public safety. Motorists were advised to ensure proper documentation of their vehicles and cooperate with patrol operatives during routine checks.

Applauding the recovery team, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to rid Nigerian roads of criminal elements. He pledged continued use of technology, intelligence, and strategic partnerships to protect lives and property. (Nigerian Pilot)
