The Osun Masterminds, a coalition of like-minded Civil Society Organizations on Wednesday called on the Osun State Government to shut down schools in the state for a few weeks while the scarcity lasts to avoid the children and their parents suffering unduly.
The Executive Director of Osun Masterminds, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli made this call in their April 2024 press briefing.
Prof Oyedokun-Alli lamented the hardship facing by the people through the scarcity of fuel saying, people are currently facing some serious difficulties getting to their destination, adding that the situation has quickly crippled the transportation system not only in Osun but across the country.
“In just a few days of this meaningless fuel scarcity, Nigerians have faced one of the toughest experiences of their lives.
“Students have had to return home, unable to get to their respective schools due to shortage of public transportation.
“The economy is getting crippled by the day as workers and informal sector operators are also unable to get to their places of work.
“Closure of schools for a few days will prevent students and their parents from hardship,” the Osun Masterminds said.
The group also commends Governor Adeleke’s led administration for the ongoing dualization of various roads in Osun while urging the government to make more efforts in creating alternative roads in all the cities where road construction is going on.
